Shapiro, St. Petersburg, Russia, 1879 11.0 х 16.4 cm Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin (1826 - 1889) was a Russian satirical writer, journalist, and editor of the popular Russian literary magazine Otechestvenniye zapiski. He was also vice-governor of Ryazan and Tver governorates. Saltykov-Shchedrin graduated from the Tsarskoe Selo Lyceum in 1944. Since 1879, he lived in St. Petersburg at 60 Liteinyi Prospect, apartment 4, which was his last address.
