Photo by Levitskii, St. Petersburg, Russia, 1866-1877 6.6 х 10.5 cm Vladimir Danilovich SPASOVICH (Włodzimierz Spasowicz; 1829-1906) was a Russian criminal lawyer and professor at St. Petersburg University (since 1857) and then the Imperial School of Jurisprudence. A prominent lawyer, philosopher, and public figure, he broadly wrote, among other things, on Polish affairs, literature, and history. Dostoevsky, who do not like lawyers, positively spoke of Spasovich as “an extraordinary talent and power. Spasovich was the author of the first Russian textbook on criminal law. SPASOVICH, V. D.
